Our History
Wieland Wallace Inc. is an Illinois licensed CPA firm founded by Paul H. Wieland in May 1995.
Paul began in public accounting in 1977 and in the first part of his career worked in the audit departments of two international auditing and accounting firms and a large local firm. He has focused on providing audit services his entire career.
Paul established Wieland & Company, Inc. in a small office in Geneva, Illinois. After spending many years as a sole practitioner, daughter Lindsay joined the firm. Initially, in addition to auditing, the firm offered traditional services offered by most CPA practices such as income tax preparation, bookkeeping and payroll services. Over the years the firm recognized that, due to increased compliance and peer review requirements in the accounting profession, smaller CPA firms were not offering audit and assurance services. Instead, the market was being dominated by large local, regional and national CPA firms. Due to the high costs and other factors such as impersonal and stringent corporate cultures, these larger firms were often not a good match for many small to medium sized client audit engagements. Wieland & Company, Inc. recognized an under-served market and ultimately decided to focus all of its efforts on auditing and assurance services.
On January 1, 2022, the firm's name was changed to Wieland Wallace Inc. Lindsay Wallace, after 10 years of service to the firm, assumed the position of Managing Partner. Paul Wieland is Founder and Partner focusing on client relationships and quality control of the practice.
Today, we perform over 160 audits and serve clients throughout metro Chicago, northern and central Illinois and in Indiana, Michigan and Missouri. Although we have achieved success in the market we have focused on, we are still a small, personal service-oriented firm offering timely, efficient and reasonably priced audits. Most all of our work comes from word of mouth from existing clients and referrals from other CPA firms.
We Specialize
By only offering auditing services, and tax services to its audit clients, Wieland Wallace Inc. is unlike most other firms you will encounter. By focusing on auditing in a few select industries, we are able to devote 100% of our efforts and resources in assuring that our clients receive the highest level of quality auditing services available.
The firm’s audit client base is focused on nonprofit organizations with many different missions, Single Audits under the Uniform Guidance, apartment complexes and multi-family housing including HUD, low-income housing tax credit entities, supportive living facilities, housing cooperatives, and homeowner/condominium associations.
Licensing and Peer Reviews
We place the utmost emphasis on the quality of our practice and services. Our firm has been registered in the peer review program its entire existence and has received an unmodified (i.e., “clean”) opinion in every review we have had.
The firm and its members are properly licensed to practice public accounting in the State of Illinois and fulfills all qualifications required to perform governmental audits. The firm also maintains appropriate credentials to practice in the states of Indiana, Michigan and Missouri.

Our Auditing Approach
Our approach to auditing is to make it as convenient and trouble-free for our client and its personnel as possible. We know we are in a service business and we approach our work in that fashion. All our work is performed on a flat fee basis approved in advance. Our clients never have to worry about getting an unexpected bill with fees billed at hourly rates.
We are always available throughout the year, and not just at audit time, to help lend our clients with any assistance they may need. Our goal is to develop close working relationships with our clients for years to come and help resolve issues as they arise. These services are included in our annual flat fee.
